Small groups, large groups, and three days a week.....The why behind it all.
You never know what to expect in ecstatic dances. Like sometimes they’re a full house and lots of organic light energy, sometimes they are deep dives that you discover the “fruits” or gifts the day after…. Sometimes they are just a few people (here in Sarasota) or sometimes online it’s a deep personal practice of authentic movement. Other times it could feel like a small group “lab” exploring creatively a mix of “things” that seem to bubble up collectively or personally ( or both) …..
The night dances on Saturday night do have more of “nightlife” feel tho people come to dance…. It’s not really a space of “picking someone up romantically” that you see in night clubs. In fact that type energy isn’t what we really want. It’s more of a community vibe of “how can I add and receive here?”. But Saturday nights have a wilder feel over all.
Sunday has a vibe of devotion. Dance your prayers. Connect to source. Surrender into the flow. It’s a mix of how big or small the group. The after glow of saturday nights vibe still in the air and a deep strong container still holding ….. often ots a few from night before who come back in to explore more deeply.
Wednesdays are more technique ….often smaller group with some space and time to go more into the cycles of the dance, play with emotional expression, move with more awareness of our bodies stories and refine how we “let go”, use intention as a strength, add to holding the space and find our way into flow in our bodies … the meditative part of the dance is so healing. It takes regular practice. Use it or lose it is a truth in how our brains wire plasticity.
This is why I love offering them 3x weekly. I love supporting people in feeling their own energy, sourcing their bodies and the elements within (not so much each other), finding ways to access music multidimensionally, and movement as medicine. This makes me excited. Passionate. This is what I do for a living. This is what 30 plus years of following your passion, weaving it into your life,(with 2 kids and single parenting), and sharing love looks like.
