Yin Yoga before ecstatic dance

🌘 Threshold Yin Yoga before Ecstatic Dance $20 or $35 if attending ecstatic dance 7-9pm

A practice of pausing, listening, releasing, and becoming.

Thresholds aren’t always dramatic doorways. Sometimes they are quiet moments when we realize we can no longer stay where we were, but we aren’t quite ready to step forward.

This Yin practice invites participants to slow down enough to feel that in-between space.

Rather than pushing toward deeper shapes, we practice meeting ourselves exactly at the edge—the threshold between effort and surrender, sensation and stillness, holding on and letting go.

The practice might include:

* Child’s Pose — turning inward and listening

* Dragon / Low Lunge — meeting the edge of discomfort and possibility

* Half Butterfly — softening around what we’re carrying

* Sleeping Swan — releasing old patterns and making space

* Caterpillar — bowing inward and trusting the unknown

* Supported Bridge — opening the front body to what is emerging

* Twists — creating space and wringing out what no longer needs to come forward

* Savasana — resting in the threshold, with nothing to solve

A central teaching

“The threshold is not a place to rush through. It is a place to listen.”

Throughout the practice, invite students to notice:

Where am I pushing?

Where am I resisting?

What happens when I soften instead?

What am I ready to release?

What might be waiting on the other side?

The practice ends with several quiet minutes of stillness—allowing the body and nervous system to experience not knowing as spaciousness rather than uncertainty.

Threshold Yin: Pause. Feel. Soften. Listen. Cross when you’re ready.
